• Pastor Appreciation Day

    In recognition of Pastor Appreciation Month, Rockcastle Kiwanis honored club members’ pastors with a special program on Thursday, October 25th at Limestone Grille.  Pastors were treated to a meal and given a small gift of appreciation, while Secretary Rose Brown shared information about what Kiwanis does within our community. We were honored to celebrate with pastors of Fairview Baptist Church (Mt. Vernon), Bible Baptist Church (Mt. Vernon), First Christian Church (Mt. Vernon), First Baptist Church (Mt. Vernon) and Victory Christian Fellowship (Somerset). Special thanks to club members Martha Cox and Nancy Mullins for organizing the event.

  • Kiwanis Helps Schools Celebrate Unity Day

    Rockcastle Kiwanis and Rockcastle County Schools observed Unity Day on Thursday, October 24, 2018. Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention month & has been recognized in the U.S. since 2011. To raise awareness, individuals, schools, communities, & businesses wear or display orange to show support for students who have been bullied. As a special treat, members of our local Kiwanis Club were on-site at each school serving orange sherbet ice cream and providing a message of kindness and acceptance. The club also sponsored Unity Day bookmarks for each student.  

  • Donation Made to RCHS Swim Team

    Tristan Winstead made a presentation at the September 27, 2018 Kiwanis meeting concerning the RCHS swim team. The team is currently fundraising for a record board for Rockcastle County High School. Kiwanis donated $250 toward their efforts. We wish the team the best of luck this season which began in October!  

  • 2018/2019 Installation Meeting

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County installed newly elected 2018-2019 officers and board members on Thursday, October 4, 2018.  Crystal Rush will serve as Treasurer. Rose Brown will continue her role as Secretary. Former Treasurer Kayla Rowe-Prewitt will serve as Vice-President and Jamie Saylor will serve as President.  Board members for the year are Martha Cox, Tammy Cox, Vicki Cox, Leila Cromer, Gary Mink, Gertha Mink, Glenda Smith and Eliza York. New members Doug Bishop, Karen Scott and Nancy Mullins were also recognized as new members who joined in the 2017-2018 club year. Our club looks forward to another year of serving Rockcastle County youth and helping create a better community.  

  • Rockcastle Kiwanis Donates to RCMS Veteran’s Day Program

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County is proud to once again be a sponsor of the RCMS Veteran’s Day Celebration.  Rockcastle County Middle School Builder’s Club members accepted the $100 donation to help with expenses for the program which honors all Rockcastle County veterans.   • Donations Made to Local FRYSC

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County recently donated $100 to Family Resource and Youth Service Centers at each of our local schools. These centers provide vital resources to Rockcastle students and families, including weekend snack packs, schools supplies and clothing. Our club is proud to support their efforts!   • RCMS Builders Club Members Bring Early Morning Cheer

    Hats off to Rockcastle County Middle School Builders Club members Mya Hunt and Celia Shaffer who were morning greeters on August 27, 2018. The girls gave high fives, “Good Mornings”, and lots of compliments to get the day started right!

  • Longest Day of Play 2018

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County was proud to be a sponsor of the 2018 Longest Day of Play.  Club members handed out sunglasses, bubbles, beach balls, sunscreen and other freebies to children and also gave away three new bicycles.
