• Kiwanis Donates Books to Brodhead Elementary

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County recently donated 50 books to Brodhead Elementary School to be used in their new book vending machine. Bryanna Mullins, BES School Secretary, spoke to club members about how the new book machine has encouraged reading among students at all grade levels. Students earn tokens to use to “purchase” books.

  • National Day of Prayer 2021

    Kiwanis Club served a complimentary luncheon on the Rockcastle County Courthouse lawn for everyone attending the “National Day of Prayer” on May 6, 2021.  

  • Kiwanis Appreciates First Responders

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle appreciates our community first responders. The first group we wish to thank for their service is the Mt. Vernon City Police. Kiwanis Treasurer Crystal Rush presented treats to Chief Brian Carter.

  • 2018 Tree Lighting Ceremony

    The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County and the City of Mt. Vernon was held Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Triangle Park! The event was a huge success with over 200 in attendance as Kiwanians passed out goody bags filled with fruit & candy. Thanks to the performers Mya Hunt, RCHS Brass Choir and MVES Pentatones for the wonderful entertainment. Special thanks to Martha Cox for organizing the event and Mayor Bryant and his crew for making the park such a magical place for everyone!

  • Kiwanis Helps Schools Celebrate Unity Day

    Rockcastle Kiwanis and Rockcastle County Schools observed Unity Day on Thursday, October 24, 2018. Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention month & has been recognized in the U.S. since 2011. To raise awareness, individuals, schools, communities, & businesses wear or display orange to show support for students who have been bullied. As a special treat, members of our local Kiwanis Club were on-site at each school serving orange sherbet ice cream and providing a message of kindness and acceptance. The club also sponsored Unity Day bookmarks for each student.  

  • Donations Made to Local FRYSC

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County recently donated $100 to Family Resource and Youth Service Centers at each of our local schools. These centers provide vital resources to Rockcastle students and families, including weekend snack packs, schools supplies and clothing. Our club is proud to support their efforts!   • Longest Day of Play 2018

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County was proud to be a sponsor of the 2018 Longest Day of Play.  Club members handed out sunglasses, bubbles, beach balls, sunscreen and other freebies to children and also gave away three new bicycles.

  • Splish Splash Event

    July 28, 2018 – Club members had a wonderful time at the Splish Splash event at Lake Linville Park! The City of Mt Vernon in conjunction with Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County and Rockcastle County Schools sponsored the event, providing a sack meal, free sunscreen and other novelty items.
