Rockcastle Regional Hosts January 8th Meeting
Rockcastle Regional Hospital hosted a joint meeting for Rockcastle Kiwanis and Rockcastle County Chamber of Commerce on January 8, 2019. CEO Steve Estes shared information about the various programs and operations of the hospital and presented our club with a donation. We appreciate the support for our club and value the ongoing partnership.

Kiwanis Sponsors Christmas Gifts for Children
Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County partnered with Family Resource and Youth Service Centers in Rockcastle County Schools to provide gifts for disadvantaged children across the county. Sponsored students received items on their wish lists such as remote control cars, dolls and skateboards along with needed items such as coats, shoes and clothes.

Kiwanis Sponsors HOBY Leadership Program for RCHS Student
The Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County is proud to sponsor the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Program for Rockcastle County High School. HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop a global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY provides students, for whom most are selected by their schools, the opportunity to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning, and motivation-building experiences, beginning a lifelong dedication to improving the lives of others. KY-TN Division 6 Lt. Governor Visits Rockcastle Club
KY-TN Kiwanis Division 6 Lt. Governor Heather Barrineau visited the Rockcastle club on Thursday, December 6, 2018. Besides serving as our Lt. Governor, Heather is an active member of the Corbin, KY club. She shared her mission and vision for our club’s division, as we all work to improve the lives of children in our communities. We also discussed upcoming community service projects, fundraising ideas and community outreach programs.

Kiwanis of Rockcastle Gains Two New Members
Our club is honored to have recently gained two new members, Doris Cromer and Jane Venters. Doris is Rockcastle County’s Court Designated Worker for youth. Jane Venters is the Family Court Judge Elect for Rockcastle, Lincoln and Pulaski counties. We are pleased to have them join our team as we work together for the benefit of Rockcastle County’s children.

2018 KY~TN Annual Kiwanis International District Division 6 Governor’s Banquet was held December 1st, 2018 at David’s Steak House in Corbin, KY. Rose Brown, Cletis Brown and Tamara Cox attended on behalf of Rockcastle County.

2018 Tree Lighting Ceremony
The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County and the City of Mt. Vernon was held Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Triangle Park! The event was a huge success with over 200 in attendance as Kiwanians passed out goody bags filled with fruit & candy. Thanks to the performers Mya Hunt, RCHS Brass Choir and MVES Pentatones for the wonderful entertainment. Special thanks to Martha Cox for organizing the event and Mayor Bryant and his crew for making the park such a magical place for everyone!

Members of Rockcastle Kiwanis prepared treat bags for children who attend the annual Christmas tree lighting in Triangle Park. Our club enjoys working together for the children in our community.

Annual Tree Lighting & Noel Night Market
Join Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County on Tuesday, November 27th for the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Kiwanis will be providing treat bags for children. Following the Tree Lighting enjoy the Noel Night Market on Main Street in downtown Mt. Vernon. Enjoy Christmas music, local vendor booths, art show and sale and a food truck.

Radio Eye Broadcast Services
Keith Elkins with Radio Eye was the guest speaker for the November 15, 2018 club meeting. Radio Eye, based in Lexington, KY, is a 24/7 radio broadcast of newspapers, magazines, and current information for visually and physically disabled people in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. A variety of broadcasts are available including Lexington Herald-Leader, Louisville Courier Journal, regional newspapers, health periodicals, Kentucky magazines, grocery and pharmacy ads, national magazines and much more.
