• 2019 Community Scholarships Presented to RCHS Seniors

    The Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County, Rockcastle County Chamber of Commerce and Cruise in the Valley Car Show Committee awarded scholarships to six deserving RCHS Seniors for their dedication and service to our community. Congratulations to these students on their accomplishments and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!   • Kiwanis Donates to Local Library

    On Wednesday, May 22nd, the Rockcastle County Kiwanis Club donated $200 to the Rockcastle County Public Library for the purchase of children’s books.  Pictured presenting the donation is Kiwanis member, Martha Cox, along with Regina Thompson, Children’s Librarian and Pam Chaliff, Director of the Rockcastle County Library. 

  • Rockcastle Kiwanis Partners with RCHS Student Council

    RCHS Student Council Members Alexa Bussell and Kylee Fain along with RCHS Youth Service Center Jessie Mahaffey accepted a donation by Rockcastle Kiwanis to be used for the new RCHS hygiene center. The RCHS Student Council, in partnership with the Youth Service Center as well as the FCCLA and Young Feminists clubs, designed and implemented a hygiene center for young ladies at RCHS.  Student Council members Kylee Fain and Alexa Bussell managed the project, which will allow girls to obtain needed hygiene items at a self-serve station in the downstairs restrooms.  “Girls needed an option to be able to take care of personal issues without having to go through the…

  • Kiwanis Sponsors Christmas Gifts for Children

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County partnered with Family Resource and Youth Service Centers in Rockcastle County Schools to provide gifts for disadvantaged children across the county. Sponsored students received items on their wish lists such as remote control cars, dolls and skateboards along with needed items such as coats, shoes and clothes.

  • Kiwanis Sponsors HOBY Leadership Program for RCHS Student

    The Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County is proud to sponsor the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Program for Rockcastle County High School.  HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop a global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY provides students, for whom most are selected by their schools, the opportunity to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning, and motivation-building experiences, beginning a lifelong dedication to improving the lives of others.   • 2018 Tree Lighting Ceremony

    The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County and the City of Mt. Vernon was held Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Triangle Park! The event was a huge success with over 200 in attendance as Kiwanians passed out goody bags filled with fruit & candy. Thanks to the performers Mya Hunt, RCHS Brass Choir and MVES Pentatones for the wonderful entertainment. Special thanks to Martha Cox for organizing the event and Mayor Bryant and his crew for making the park such a magical place for everyone!

  • Kiwanis Helps Schools Celebrate Unity Day

    Rockcastle Kiwanis and Rockcastle County Schools observed Unity Day on Thursday, October 24, 2018. Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention month & has been recognized in the U.S. since 2011. To raise awareness, individuals, schools, communities, & businesses wear or display orange to show support for students who have been bullied. As a special treat, members of our local Kiwanis Club were on-site at each school serving orange sherbet ice cream and providing a message of kindness and acceptance. The club also sponsored Unity Day bookmarks for each student.  

  • Donation Made to RCHS Swim Team

    Tristan Winstead made a presentation at the September 27, 2018 Kiwanis meeting concerning the RCHS swim team. The team is currently fundraising for a record board for Rockcastle County High School. Kiwanis donated $250 toward their efforts. We wish the team the best of luck this season which began in October!  

  • Rockcastle Kiwanis Donates to RCMS Veteran’s Day Program

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County is proud to once again be a sponsor of the RCMS Veteran’s Day Celebration.  Rockcastle County Middle School Builder’s Club members accepted the $100 donation to help with expenses for the program which honors all Rockcastle County veterans.   • Donations Made to Local FRYSC

    Kiwanis Club of Rockcastle County recently donated $100 to Family Resource and Youth Service Centers at each of our local schools. These centers provide vital resources to Rockcastle students and families, including weekend snack packs, schools supplies and clothing. Our club is proud to support their efforts!
